Uttarakhand State Council of Science and Technology (UCOST) organized the first border Mountain District Children's Science Festival on 19th and 20th November in the district of Champawat. The aim of this festival is to develop scientific consciousness and reinforcing scientific temper among the students in the remote areas of the state. During the festival, students from classes 6 to 12 from Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, Champawat and Pithoragarh respectively from 06 border districts of the state have participated in various scientific programmes.
Visit of students of Jammu and Kashmir state under "Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat" program. Students of Jammu and Kashmir state are on Uttarakhand tour under "Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat" program. Today, on June 30, about 100 students from different districts of Jammu and Kashmir state visited the center. The center organized a guided visit for them in which they were explained in detail about the various galleries. In addition, the students also participated in 3D film, Science Demonstration and Planetarium Show. These students from remote and inaccessible mountainous places experienced the joyful side of science education on this occasion and described their visit as unforgettable.
Today, on August 14, Dr. DD Pant Birth Centenary Celebration was organized under the chairmanship of Dr. A. N. Purohit at the Zonal Science Center of Vigyan Dham campus. Prof. Shekhar Pathak, Prof. SP Singh, former Vice Chancellor HNB Garhwal University, Prof. Dhirendra Sharma, Prof. K.K. Joshi, former Vice Chancellor, Kumaon University etc. participated in the program. In the welcome address, Dr. Rajendra Doval, Director General UCost welcomed all the guests present and motivated the students from different colleges to adopt scientific approach. The keynote speaker of the program, Prof. Shekhar Pathak, informed the visitors about the struggles of Dr. DD Pant's life, his scientific outlook and his dedication to the country. The book "Dr. Devi Dutt Pant Birth Centenary Souvenir" was also released on this occasion.
Lecture on "History of Aviation & Principle of Flight" was organized by the Center's Innovation Hub on 29 October. As a subject matter expert, Dr. Aishwarya Dhar from WINGS of AERO and Dr. Kishan from Society of Aeronautical Engineers gave detailed information to students on the history of aviation etc. About 100 students of the Institute of Technology Gopeshwar and Tibetan Home School Dehradun participated in the lecture.
On the occasion of National Children's Day on 14 November, various programs were organized for students from different schools by the Innovation Hub of the Zonal Science Center. The students participating in the program were given hands-on training by the center on electronic topics in daily life. In which the students understood the working of LED bulb using breadboard and gave information about smart electronics, as well as lectures were organized for students on the utility of science in daily life, child rights etc. And the children also expressed their views on the occasion of Children's Day. Schools participating in the program: Muslim National Junior High School Dehradun, Sunrise Academy, Autism Welfare Society, Triple R Public School Dehradun, KSN Public School Muzaffarnagar and Institute of Technology Gopeshwar.
